Bass Fishing At It's BEST
Come and visit one of the hottest bass fishing lakes in the country!
With almost 20,000 surface acres and some of the most diverse bass
fishing water you can imagine, this secluded lake holds one of the best
possibilities for an angler to catch a true double digit largemouth
bass without having to travel to the ends of the earth or spend an arm
and a leg to do so.
Impounded in 1991, Ivie holds some of the most
pristine, clean, clear water covering flooded mesquite, oak and pecan
tree filled draws, with miles of steep, rocky shorelines, acres and
acres of hydrilla flats, countless coves and pockets and a bottom
contour like you’ve never seen before, this lake offers the best of all
worlds when it comes to bass fishing. The Colorado River and Concho
River converge in the middle of this lake to offer both early season
spawning action way up in the river system beginning in late February
to a main lake deep water spawn that will last well into May or even
June.
Regardless of the time of year you want to fish, Ivie holds the best
opportunity for bass enthusiasts. With an average water depth at over
30 ft deep, mid-summer or mid-winter time fishing can be just as good
as any other time of year. Carolina rigs or jigging spoons fished on
deep humps and points can yield not only big numbers of staging fish
but we consistently catch fish over 10 pounds here year after year.
Largemouth bass are not the only game species we cater to. Ivie is noted for it’s exceptional white bass run and crappie fishing. The Colorado and Concho rivers have also been notorious for the amazing cat fishing, even before the lake was established. Other species include smallmouth bass and various bream species.
